I have studied the European bladed weapons and documents detailing their use for roughly 40 years and studied under some of the most notable historical instructors of the 20th century.
I have worked as an historical weapons instructor for 35 years. I am best known theatrically as the Swordmaster for the HIGHLANDER TV series, seasons 3-6 and the movie of that genre, ENDGAME.
I have also published a book on the art, stressing the importance of historical skills, published by Crowood Press, England, 2010 and am also the writer, director and presenter of a DVD on swordsmanship, plus the author of many articles on the subject. I have taught at over 30 different institutions over the last 30 years, including being a master instructor for the International Combat Workshop in Bannf since 2000.
I have been a 2-time recipient of the Canada Council Award for research as well as other awards.
