I moved here from the UK 2 years ago with a background in renewable energy, marketing and media evaluation. I’ve spent the last year as chief labourer/GC as I renovate my house, which led me to investigate ways to distract myself whilst elaborating on my new found skills. After discovering more about Makerspace and attending the forge class, I was thrilled to be asked to pitch for ASC by Derek Jacoby. Makerspace is his baby. Or if you like, he’s the daddy. Derek is a maker, computer geek, and UVic grad student. A man with far too many hobbies and interests, he bounces between biology, computers and manufacturing, plus woodworking and boat building thrown in on the side. With lots of help, he founded the Victoria Makerspace to allow others in the community to share tools and skills.
