Founded in 1995, Theatre SKAM’s mandate is to create a living, contemporary, professional theatre; to provide varied and provocative theatrical entertainment for audiences in Victoria and on tour; and to employ emerging theatre artists.

Matthew Payne is a founding member and Artistic Producer of Theatre SKAM, Victoria’s top alternative theatre company. SKAM’s current programming focuses on projects for communities and the company often seeks out appropriate partnership with like-minded arts practitioners (professional & non-professional), special-interest groups and community experts.

As a playwright and performer, Matthew’s list of SKAM creations includes: The Lab, He Said She Sang, and Cariboo Buckaroo. He recently directed the world preview of Smalltown: A Pickup Musical.

Matthew is a full member of IATSE Local 168 and also works as an educator and director with a range of organizations.
