Ok..here is an idea that I feel would help my community.
A local food bank. I live in Cumberland BC and the food bank is in Courtenay. It is a good km walk from the bus stop to the food bank and double that for the trip home. I would like to set up a small food bank for Cumberland families that do not have a car. One of the main items required would be a large walk in cooler. Other than that, a few fold out banquet tables. We have a truck, so picking up is no problem. We also have a house that is centrally located and easily accessible, so premises are also provided.
Sadly, our small community has some childhood (and adult) poverty that is not being addressed by other services.
