Travel costs for travel podcast

We have so much to learn from other cultures, and a window into other lives and ways of thinking about the world can be found through language. Untranslatable words highlight the rich cultural diversity and ethnosphere we are all apart of.

My goal is to create a travel podcast and web series that educates and illuminates different cultural perspectives through language by journeying to different cultures and uncovering what 10 words that can’t be easily translated into English mean.Through my conversations with different people I encounter as they speak about their culture and attempt to define the untranslatable word in their own language to English, I hope to illuminate different cultural perspectives, and give native English speakers a different way of looking at the world.

The money I receive would go towards my travel costs and production fees to produce my first two pilot episodes in Denmark and Norway:  Episode 1: the Danish word Hygge (the sense of coziness and companionship during the cold dark days of Winter that helps the Danes be some of the happiest people in the world), and Episode 2: the Norwegian word Utepils (to sit outside on a sunny day enjoying a cold beer and wishing it was summer).

Thanks for considering my idea!
