Letting women + our community shine.

There’s too many of us who don’t see our own power. Who look in the mirror and see mediocrity, instead of the powerful beasts we are. Who think it’s too indulgent to spend money on ourselves, to remind ourselves of our wild – barefoot out in nature, leaning back into that primal part of ourselves we left behind when we became professionals, parents or simply fell into the trap that is adulthood. I want to give the gift of coming home to yourself – to women, to people who dont have the means or dont have a voice. While I’ve begun developing the process, I’d use the money to build it out – to get help on making this a more self-exploratory and more inclusive process. I’d use the money to build out a more inclusive marketing strategy, to canvas for the right people to be involved and to invite people to the table without speaking for them. As a photographer, my greatest gift to people is mirroring back who they really are – not who they believe they are or who they are told to be. A new series I’ve started and called “Wild + Open Hearted” sessions, are an opportunity for my clients to be reminded of who they truly are – to have an indulgent afternoon out in nature, coming home to themselves and getting something tangible to hold in return & remind them of themselves when life gets heavy. It’s something I fell into by accident – by starting to speak my own truth, and shedding my own layers, I started to see others raise their hands in solidarity. As we move through this thing called reconciliation in Canada, and face the bleak reality that we’re told to be afraid of anything or anyone different than us, I’m intrigued by the idea of creating a platform. Not only for women to come home to themselves out in nature, but also for others. Regardless of how hard it might be to make ends meet here in Vancouver, I am in a position of privilege, and I’d like to hold the door open for others to tell their stories. I am here to hold up a mirror. To show us all that vulnerability is strength, and dark sides remind us of how bright our light truly is.
