They say it takes a village to raise a child. From the crazy ramblings of four single moms in different cities wishing to live under one roof and share the responsibility of raising all the children between them was born the dream of the Single Parent Co-operative.
Phase one of my goal is to create a network of single parents who agree to provide childcare in the evenings and/or weekends on a shared rotation. A monthly schedule would be agreed upon by the parents to ensure that each parent receives equal kid free time.
Phase two would be to partner with other people and/or organizations to provide lower cost activities such as swimming, gymnastics or organized sports to the children in the co-operative.
Ultimately I would love to see the original concept come to fruition.  These two building blocks will help test the waters of whether the original idea could be successful in Victoria. To get the ball rolling I need funding to develop the idea further and then market the co-operative to attract members.
Bio
Simply put I am a single mom on a mission to better my life as well as the lives around me. I believe that all things happen for a reason.  I don’t fully know why life brought me to the point of single parenthood. What I do know is that I have been able to use my experiences to assist and inspire others through social networking, blogging and one on one conversations. My desire is to further my ability to assist and inspire other single parents in order to allow our children to have the best opportunities possible.
During the day I am a paralegal and small business owner.  I have a variety of experience ranging from fundraising to music promotions to sitting on executive committees for professional organizations.  Driven by passion and determination I find creative solutions when tackling challenges.  When my mind is set on a goal almost nothing can stop me from finding some way to reach that goal.
