Your Awesome Shit:
To raise awareness about the growing crisis in documentary funding, technology and distribution, Get on The DOC Bus will drive a customized, camperized school bus across the country that is the birthplace of the documentary. A fundraising tool for the 2011 Documentary Organization of Canada ‘Save the Doc’ campaign, this dynamic odyssey will literally bring the art and business of documentary to Canadians, educating, entertaining and inspiring film lovers from coast to coast.
The DOC bus will be customized to accommodate the small crew and provide a studio production office. The 4-month summer tour from Mile 0 to St John’s, Newfoundland will include planned indoor screenings and impromptu outdoor guerilla screenings of Canadian docs; visits and interviews with local filmmakers, film lovers, decision-makers and change-makers; a jog south of the border to pick up Michael Moore in Flint Michigan; and a full-on social media campaign that will take an international audience on a virtual Canadian Documentary Odyssey. Along the way, this awesome project will document and explore the documentary industry’s changing landscape.  Get on the DOC Bus! Are you on board the vehicle for change?
