Tattoo Artist Gallery in Back of Antique Shop

My idea for the Awesome Shit Club is to turn my under utilized, antique shop back room into an art gallery which showcases the fine art of tattoo artists. I’ve spoken to several tattoo artists most of them have artwork that isn’t just on the skin of their clients. They have paintings and drawings that they would love to show and sell. I’d like to provide a space that is exclusive to working tattoo artists from Vancouver. Perhaps, I would also show the work of tattooists from outside of Vancouver as well at some point down the road. I already have the guys at Gastown Tattoo starting their submissions for the gallery opener show. The theme will be “the human skull”. I figured I’d open the doors wide to all the tattoo artists in the city and have them submit a skull for the show. (a no brainer, I’m sure every tattooist has drawn one at some point) The gallery will be a success because there is already a client base, the artist already has patrons. Who wouldn’t want to own a cool painting done by the same artist that did their ink?
I’ll call it The Salmagundi Ink Gallery.
Opening is set for Spring 2015. As of today it’s just a junk room with a floor that’s caving in and walls made out of cheap foam board but with some $$$ it could be something really awesome!
