I am a recently single mom trying to hang on to a house in expensive Vancouver. I have little money for landscaping, as evident by my front yard which was torn up when I had a plumbing emergency and never really put it back together afterwards. Luckily at the moment it’s sort of camouflaged by the leaves I never had time to rake (yes I am THAT neighbour).
Each year, I have a decent vegetable garden in my backyard despite my rather fresh and haphazard gardening skills and busy work schedule.
Last year I had the idea that I’d really like to farm my land this year. I mean, I have all of this expensive land, I might as well make use of it! This would include converting my front yard into garden as well as the back. I’d like some higher containers along the sidewalk for a u-pick salad bar for passersby. I live on a busy street near a bus stop so I think it could work out. I like the idea of sharing my harvest from my city farm!
