Made in Victoria is a business that makes it easier for local makers to sell their stuff and for buyers to find them. This business provides an array of promotional and networking services including an online map-based directory with event and ecommerce options, a trading forum and revolving pop-up shop(s) for Makers in the Capital Regional District.
This differs from other initiatives that I have researched in that it is not just a social media and networking tool, it is a community builder and job creator that has possibilities beyond simple promotion…shared workshops and resources to make businesses more viable, with a longer-term goal of opening Made in Victoria co-ops throughout the region.
This is an opportunity to raise the local Maker profile by centralizing the search for locals and tourists to find their products. Makers need to make, not spend all their time and energy trying to sell. I know brand-building and I know retail and I love Makers.
With hundreds of hours put into this, a growing twitter and facebook following, a growing newsletter list and great in-person and survey feedback, all I need is some cash to bring it to life. It’s this close. Pick me.
