Making The Scruffy Dog Barkery More Efficient

My name is Ursula, and my partner’s name is Troy. We have a mascot named Lily. She’s also our official taste-tester.

Troy and I have been baking and cooking for humans either professionally, or at home for friends and family since we were each in our early teens. We now bake for four-legged critters, and really enjoy spoiling them!

Troy first had the idea for a dog treat bakery while reading a small business magazine several years ago. After we met, we kept finding dog treat recipe books, and bone-shaped cookie cutters. That did it for us. We decided to open our own “barkery”.

It took at least one year of planning, and two years of vending every Saturday in the summer to bring us to where we are today; poised to vend seven days per week at BC Ferries Swartz Bay Terminal and to make a presentation to the buyer at Fairway Markets.
